Like many people, I have had my share of medical issues in the last few years and am now in a better place physically and mentally than in the last decade or so. Believe me when I tell you how incredibly fortunate that seems. It means waking up w/o pain and with a positive view of the world, even with the weight of other people’s problems. I don’t especially like going to the gym or exercise, but morning walks in a beautiful setting is pretty sweet and the gym always invigorates. The day is always better for the movement. I’m in a great relationship and involved daily with producing ART. Not too shabby!
Yup, I love real street Mexican food and Five Guys, but they have been off my radar for the last couple months. It’s time to cleanse myself of the indulgences. Now it’s mostly vegetable concoctions…roasted or grilled, and chicken, fish and fruits. No deviations. I know my brain and body is better for it. I can actually “feel” the difference, but I do miss the “tastes”, but not as much as I thought I would.
You might ask what is motivating all this? Answer: our upcoming trip to Europe and bypassing other people’s problems. Germany and Portugal is going to be a jam-packed adventure. I want to maximize the time we have to enjoy exploring new cultures on foot and know that we are lucky enough to be in a decent mental and physical space. Lots of outdoor stuff. I don’t want to sound sappy, but self-awareness can be an amazing tool as well as a new pair of comfortable Chaco walking boots.
